Saturday, April 18
Arrived today at the end of a 27-mile hike starting early this
morning.
Sunday, April 19
Staying tonight with Chris's aunt and uncle, about 2-1/2 hours out of
Damascus. Here are some highlights from an e-mail we received from Uncle
Bert, with the subject line "Wow! Talk about appetites!":
- "FOOD was a primary crowd pleaser. Their eyes were like children's
at Christmas when they saw fresh fruit, meat, and real vegetables. Everyone
had lost between 10 and 15 pounds, and gained at least several back before
leaving."
- "Chris and Karl treated us to some harmony and did a couple of
loads of laundry. Everyone wrote postcards and called home."
- "We had several discussions of both spiritual and very human topics.
We went from God's glory to natural toilet paper."
Setting out again tomorrow after a stop at the post office to pick up
mail and supplies. A friend of Chris is joining the hike for about a month
starting tomorrow.
